THUNDERHILL RACEWAY FACTS:

Thunderhill Raceway (THR) is a 3/8-mile, D-shaped asphalt oval track that opened its gates on April 18, 1998. THR management has the racers and fans at the top of its priority list and is known as one of the premier short tracks in the United States. It is conveniently located on the IH-35 access road, just north of San Marcos, TX.

Thunderhill Raceway is sanctioned by NASCAR, as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Thunderhill Raceway normally runs twice a month. All NASCAR events include the NASCAR A-Line Modifieds, NASCAR TSRS Late Models, TSRS Allison Legacys, NASCAR A-Line Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Grand Stocks and Mini Stocks. Other classes and series that race at Thunderhill Raceway include the following: NASCAR Trucks, SportMods, Dwarf Car Racing Series of Texas, NasKart Pro Racing Series and the Bandoleros.

Thunderhill Raceway is a proud member of both the Kyle and Buda Chamber of Commerce organizations.

Thunderhill Raceway is owned and promoted by Mary Ann Naumann.

FOOD & DRINK CONCESSIONS

Fans are not allowed to bring in coolers or ice chests into the grandstand area (are allowed in pit area), but food and drink concessions are available for purchase near the grandstands at Bailey’s Burgers. Menu items include gourmet hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chips & queso and soft drinks. Food and drink is also available in the pit area to include BBQ on bun, pizza, etc.

Beer is available for purchase, subject to the following conditions:

TABC Private Club Membership Due to TABC Licensing restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages at a private facility in Hays County, it is required that each individual purchasing an alcoholic beverage be a member of a “private club” (no charge).

According to Section 32.01 of the Alcoholic Beverage Code, the private club permit allows alcoholic beverages to be “stored, possessed and mixed on the club premises,” as well as “served for on-premises consumption” to members of the club and their guests.

A membership form (no charge for membership), along with valid ID/License, will be required from each person purchasing alcoholic beverages at Thunderhill Raceway. A link to a copy of this membership form is shown below, and it will be provided on-site.

The grandstands are made of wooden bleachers, so please feel free to bring a stadium seat to make yourself more comfortable while watching the races. Also, the grandstands are located very near to the race track, so you might consider using earplugs for small children. Wear plenty of sunscreen during the day!
