THUNDER HILL RACEWAY DEMO DERBY RULES

INTRODUCTION
1. The following rules and regulations apply to the DEMO DERBY SPECIAL EVENTS at Thunder Hill Raceway. These rules and regulations are designed to promote competition, and safety for all who compete at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR). Even though thought and effort has been given to require as safe a car as possible through these rules, it is incumbent on each driver, pit crew person, spectator, track employee, and track official to use prudent judgment and personal restraint in the name of fair competition and safety. These rules in no way ensure safety nor prevention of injury to any spectator or person participating at Thunder Hill Raceway.

2. Thunder Hill Raceway officials welcome your suggestions and recommendations to improve the racing and safety of racing at Thunder Hill Raceway. Please convey your suggestions and recommendations to the Technical Inspector or General Manager.

3. Refer to the Track Regulations, Car Registration, and the Rules Disclaimer for additional information and guidance.

4. Thunder Hill Raceway officials reserve the right to interpret and apply the rules and procedures at Thunder Hill Raceway. The interpretation by Thunder Hill Raceway management is binding and final.

TECHNICAL INSPECTIONS

1. Every competing vehicle, regardless of class, is subject to inspection by the Technical Inspector at any time.

2. Every car competing at Thunder Hill Raceway is required to pass a safety inspection by the Technical Inspector. The inspection must be successfully completed before the car is allowed to compete.

3. The Technical Inspector has the option to allow the car to compete without passing the Safety Inspection if, and only if, the Technical Inspector determines the non compliance item is such that it may be allowed a one-time exception. Any one- time exceptions must be corrected and verified by the Technical Inspector prior to the next scheduled race night.

4. Anyone refusing to be inspected by the Technical Inspector will be disqualified. They will forfeit all winnings and points for the race event night.

5. The Technical Inspector is available before, during and after each event to assist in the application or interpretation of any technical or safety rule. It is highly recommended that interpretations are requested and resolved before the night of competition, and the technical inspections. The Technical Inspector is here to help, not hinder, each racer at Thunder Hill Raceway.

6. Safety Inspections will be held prior to the Demo Derby.

7. The decision of the Thunder Hill Raceway Technical Inspector is final and binding in all matters of interpretation and application of these rules and regulations.

DEMO DERBY CAR RULES AND REQUIRED SAFETY EQUPMENT

1. Cars only. No commercial vehicles, and no Imperials.

2. All cars must be equipped with a seat belt and should strap.

3. All cars must have two 6 to 8-inch holes cut into the hood and trunk for fire extinguishers.

4. All glass must be removed.

5. All chrome and brackets must be removed.

6. The engines may be chained down to the frame.

7. Electric fuel pumps are not allowed.

8. The cooling fan may be removed.

9. The battery must be relocated to the inside floor.

10. The battery must be inside of a battery box.

11. All cars my be no higher than 21-inches from the bottom of the car to the ground.

12. Bracing or modifying of any kind is not allowed. This includes trailer hitches.

13. Weight may not be added to the car.

14. Stock tires and wheels are required. Welding protective devices, such as pipe to the wheel to protect the valve stem is not allowed. No alterations may be made to any of the wheels.

15. The driver's door must be welded or bolted shut.

16 The car trunk must be completely empty.

17. The Fuel tank must be relocated to behind the driver.

18. Fuel cans are not allowed.

19. Boat gas tanks, metal or plastic, are allowed.

20. The fuel tank must be mounted to or strapped to the floor.

21. Each car must have a number on the roof at least 36-inches tall.

22. Each car must have an “X” painted on the driver's door. The “X” must be in a contrasting color to the car.

23. A 1/4 x 6-inch steel plate must be bolted to the outside of the driver's door, or the driver's door must be filled with concrete.

24. The steel plate must extend 6-inches past each end of the door.

25. All cars must have at lest one horizontal bar behind the seat.

26. Any trailer hitch mount must be removed before the event. Trailer hitches are not allowed.

27. No modification to bumpers, other than chains to secure bumper, are allowed.

28. Door and trunk seams may be welded shut.  If using strapping, it may be no larger than 1 1/2" x 1/8".

29. A technical inspection will be held at the completion of the Demolition Derby.  The technical inspection will be held at the site of the Demolition Derby, and no fans, friends, nor crewmembers will be allowed on the site until the technical inspection is completed.

RACE RULES

1. Each driver must check in to the pit area no later than 9 p.m.

2. Each driver must wear a safety helmet.

3. Each car must make contact with another car at least once every 2 minutes or it will be disqualified.

4. All drivers must not intentionally make contact with another driver's door.

5. ALL DEMO CARS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE TRACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EVENT.

6. ALL DEMO CARS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THUNDER HILL RACEWAY PROPERTY BY THE FOLLLOWING MONDAY AT NOON.

7. IF A CAR IS NOT REMOVED BY NOON ON MONDAY, THE TRACK MANAGEMENT WILL CONTACT A SALVAGE COMPANY TO HAVE THE CAR REMOVED.

8. ANY CARS REMOVED BY THE SALVAGE COMPANY BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE SALVAGE COMPANY.

9. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.
